New Moon

“SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT
ANNOUNCES TWILIGHT SEQUEL - NEW MOON”
By: Sam Steinhauser
On www.stepheniemeyer.com there is a short blog post stating that the Twilight sequel, New Moon, is being produced as a movie by Summit Entertainment. Yes, as of Nov. 22, 2008 Summit Entertainment announced that they will be producing New Moon, the much anticipated sequel to the Twilight movie. Many die-hard, or “twi-hard”, fans are jumping up and down at this news, myself included. The movie will be based on the second novel by Stephenie Meyer, of course. New Moon has been rumored to be set as a December 2009 release. After the $70 million box office hit, Twilight, the produces set a preproduction for New Moon.
Some facts about the book New Moon that fans may not know are that, the book cover has no significance to the book what-so-ever. Stephenie Meyer did not design the cover. Also, the title refers to the darkest phase of the lunar cycle, indicating that New Moon is about the darkest time of Bella's life. Although New Moon was not as highly rated as Twilight, it still managed to rise to the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller List for Children's Chapter Books in its second week. It remained in this spot for 11 weeks. It was on the list for a total of 30 weeks.
So if you haven’t read New Moon, and are planning to see the movie next December, I really suggest you read it soon.
